russian painters → Peasant painter Nikolai Bogdanov-Belsky

To characterize the creative deep national and original artist Bogdanov-Belsky, most critics use the epithet "peasant" (peasant painter). But he was, first of all, a talented painter, trained in the best art schools and wonderful teachers. Since “the illegitimate son of a poor woman” (the words of the artist himself) studied in the icon painting workshop at the Trinity-Sergius Monastery (1882-1883), then at the Arts Educational College at Vasily Polenov, Vladimir Makovsky, Illarion Pryanishnikov (1884-1889) at the Academy of Arts at Ilia Repin.

And another feature distinguishes paintings of the painter: it comes from kindness itself, which the artist had put into it during the creation (look into his painting “Mental calculation”, 1895; “A sick teacher”, 1897; “Students”, 1901).
